What Could a New Season/Spin-Off Be About?

While Arisu and Usagi’s main story feels complete (they are married, expecting a child, and back in the real world), there are a few paths the show could take.

• Theory 1: The American Spin-Off (Most Likely): We follow the new “Alice” in Los Angeles as she and a new cast of characters are forced to play the games. This would be a fresh start and a way to show how a different culture would handle the Borderland.
• Theory 2: The Global Story: The new show could follow multiple groups of people around the world (including the new “Alice”) as the global catastrophe hits. We might even see Arisu and Usagi trying to help from the “real world,” or get dragged back in.
• Theory 3: The Retry Storyline: There is a short manga sequel called Alice in Borderland: Retry. It features Arisu getting into an accident and returning to the Borderland while Usagi is in labor. Season 3 didn’t adapt this, so the creators could still use it as a way to bring Arisu back for one last, high-stakes game.

My personal bet is on a spin-off that expands the world, rather than forcing Arisu and Usagi back into the games again. Their story has ended, but the Borderland’s story is just beginning.

For now, we are back in the waiting room. But unlike after Season 2, this time we know the story is officially going beyond the source material. The game is evolving, and I, for one, can’t wait to see what the next level looks like.
