Why Season 6 is Almost Certainly Happening
Even though we don’t have the official “green light” press release yet, I am 99% sure we are getting another season. Here is why:
1. The “2026” Slip-Up: During a Netflix earnings call earlier this year, co-CEO Ted Sarandos listed Emily in Paris as one of the shows slated for 2026. Since Season 5 came out in late 2025, he was almost certainly talking about Season 6. It’s the closest thing to a confirmation we have!
2. The Cliffhanger Was Intentional: Showrunner Darren Star is a master of TV. He ended Season 5 with a massive setup—Gabriel inviting Emily to Greece—specifically to make it impossible for Netflix to cancel it. In recent interviews, he openly admitted, “I always want to write cliffhangers to compel Netflix to order another season.” It looks like his plan is working.
3. The Production Speed: The cast and crew of this show are incredibly efficient. Season 5 filmed from May 2025 to August 2025 and was released just four months later in December. If they follow this same “summer filming, winter release” schedule, we could easily see Season 6 by next Christmas.
