The “Jon Snow” Sequel: Why It Was Cancelled
For a long time, the biggest hope for a “Season 9” was actually a direct sequel series focused on Jon Snow. It wasn’t just a rumor; it was a real project. Kit Harington, the actor who played Jon, came to HBO with the idea himself. The show was supposed to follow Jon’s life North of the Wall after the events of the finale, exploring his trauma and his new life with the Wildlings.
However, in 2024, we got some bad news. Kit Harington confirmed that the project is officially shelved.
Speaking candidly, he explained that the creative team couldn’t find the right story to tell. They didn’t want to rush out a sequel just for the sake of it if the quality wasn’t there. Harington said the project is “off the table” for now because they couldn’t crack the narrative. While he hinted they might revisit it in the distant future, right now, the Jon Snow sequel is not happening.
