Is a Second Season Likely?
Now, just because it hasn’t been announced doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen. In my opinion, the chances for a second season are actually quite good, and I base this on two main factors.
1. There is plenty of story left to tell. The first season of the anime adapted roughly the first 40 chapters of the original manga by Saka Mikami. That’s a great start, but the manga itself is much further along. As of late 2025, the manga has published well over 160 chapters, meaning there is more than enough source material for a second, third, or even fourth season.
Season 1 beautifully set the stage and concluded at a perfect point, with the relationship between Rintaro and Kaoruko solidified. A second season would be able to explore the next phase of their story, which only gets more interesting.
2. The anime was popular. While official viewing numbers can be hard to find, the online discussion and positive reception for the series were strong. Anime are often created to help boost sales of the original manga. Given the quality of the adaptation and the warm reception it received, it’s very likely the producers see it as a success worth continuing.
